Message from the Director...
Hello SVILHA families! Welcome to the 2010 - 2011 inline hockey season. I am Chris Hoch and I serve on the SVILHA Board of Directors as your Vice-President of Player Development. I will utilize this page of our website as an informational page, so please refer to it often. You will also see me at the rinks so please take a moment to introduce yourself and share any SVILHA interests or concerns you may have. I strongly believe that our Association exists to serve our players. I am here as one of your Directors to insure that every player's experience is a great one. Have a great summer! I look forward to seeing you soon. ~ Chris Hoch

The Jersey
by Michelle Botta

For many years I've washed this jersey and goodness, what a chore!
I've smelled the sweat and seen the blood and dirt, the stains and grime galore.
I've held it very gingerly, then dropped it in the wash, while thinking,
tomorrow, next week, wash again, Oh gee, Oh Lord, Oh gosh!
I've opened all the windows as I've squirted on the "Shout";
I've breathed the fumes that clogged my lungs, of that I have no doubt.
The fortune on detergent, the times I've spent---I shudder,
for many years I've washed this "jersey", you now can call me "Mudder".
But today I washed this uniform, perhaps the final time,
after all those years of drudgery, I failed to see the grime.
I saw the boy who wore it---with such pride and dignity,
and suddenly, that hockey "jersey" looked beautiful to me.
I saw the dedication of my young man to the team,
his pride to wear the uniform, to play the game and dream.
I felt the tingling of the game, the tumult to the end,
the heart, the spunk, the cheer, and pat of every loyal friend.
The character and goodness that this uniform helped to grow,
and the precious boy who wore it---so special I can glow.
If I had one wish for certain, perhaps the one I would adore---
would be to wash this uniform---just once more.

Some Hockey Inspiration

A mother was making a breakfast of fried eggs for her son.

Suddenly her son burst into the kitchen. Careful! CAREFUL! Put in some more butter! Oh my goodness! You are cooking too many at once. TOO MANY! Turn them! TURN THEM NOW! We need more butter. Oh my WHERE are we going to get MORE BUTTER? They are going to STICK! CAREFUL!!!! I said be CAREFUL!! You NEVER listen to me when you're cooking! Never! Turn them! Hurry up! Are you CRAZY! Have you LOST your mind? Don't forget to salt them. You know you always forget to salt them. Use the salt. USE THE SALT! USE THE SALT!!!!!!!!

The mother stared at him. What is wrong with you? You think I don't know how to fry a couple of eggs?

The son calmly replied; I just wanted to show you what it feels like when I'm trying to play hockey.
